A tragic incident on Tuesday, January 3 in a popular swimming pool in China was captured by a CCTV camera at a pool inside the Ocean Spring Resort in Xuangyang City.
This video was posted by People’s Daily Online on Twitter. According to report, the child’s mother, surnamed Xiao, was playing on her mobile phone and didn’t realized her son was drowning even though they were only around three meters (10 feet) away from each other.
The video also shows that they were seven to eight swimmers in the pool, but none of them noticed the child was drowning. The boy is struggling for about 3 minutes and suddenly submerged in water at about 1.1 meters (3.6 feet) deep.
When Ms Xiao was finished with her phone, she noticed her son was missing, she sought the help of pool staff to look for him.
After an hour of searching, the boy’s body was eventually found at the bottom of the pool.
"If I had known this would happen, I would never bring him here," said a distraught Madam Xiao to a reporter from Hua Shang Daily.
In spite of the fact, local police have yet to issue a statement. China state-owned travel agency HKCTS which manages the pool, shut it down to probe the matter.
